As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • Cover letter to the Executive Editor should cantain: the statement on the novelty of the work; area(s), field(s) or discipline(s) in which the content of the manuscript fall into; statement on the original submission i.e., the manuscript partially or fully was not published or submitted elsewhere for publication; and a list of potential referees (preferrably 3).
  • A separate Title page with title of the manuscript; a short title with not more than 200 characters including spaces; name, email address and affiliation of all authors; name of the corresponding author; and 4-7 key words that does not appear in the Title.
  • Manuscript body text without any information about the authors. Author may incorporate figures and tables in the body text or can upload as separate files.

Ann Dent UM accepts manuscripts in the broader field of Dentristry and Oral Health. Manuscript can be submitted as: Letter to Editor (max 1000 words) Research Article (max 4000 words), Review Article (max 4000 words), Brief/Short Communication (max 2000 words), Case report (max 4000 words), Perspective or Opinion paper (max 4000 words), and Hypothesis paper (max 4000 words).


Word Limit: Authors are required to follow the word limit as mentioned above for different categories of manuscripts. Number of words should be counted including references, table and figure legends.


Title page: Please submit separate title page with the title of the manuscript; a short title; name, affiliation and email address of each author; name of the corresponding author.


Text: Each manuscript may contain following sections, as appropriate according to the category of the manuscript: (i) Introduction, (ii) Results and Discussion (can be combined or separated), (iii) Methods. and (iv) any subheadings as needed for the manuscript,


Case report can follow any format as long as it is self-describing. Publication of any personal information about an identifiable living patient requires the explicit written consent of the patient or guardian.


Refernces: There is no specific requirement for reference writing during initial submission. Authors are encouraged to use reference manager. If the manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will be asked to fix the reference according to the journal format.


If applicable, manuscript MUST be submitted with: (i) evidence of Ethics approval, (ii) Acknowledgement, (iii) Conflict of interest statements, (iv) Author contribution statements, and (v) References (no specific format is required for intial submission).
