The Annals of Dentistry is published annually as the official publication of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Since its first publication in 1994, this peer-reveiwed journal strives to promote the advancement of practice, education and scientific research in Malaysia as well as elevating the quality of patient care. In tandeem with globalisation, it is now the goal of Annals of Dentistry is to promote the publication of research works done in the discipline of oral stomatology and dentistry firstly in the South East Asian region, and eventually to a global stage. An emphasis is now given to publishing and disseminating research works of dental trainees, i.e. undergraduate and postgraduate dental students, locally and across the world. There is currently a lack of platform for them to do so on a global scale.

By encouraging dental researchs among dental trainees, especially the undergraduates, the -Annals of Dentistry hope to unearth new talents; therefore, this will also contribute to the advancement the scientific and technical aspects relating to general dentistry and related scientific subjects. As Neil Amstrong once said, a small step on the man can become a large leap for mankind.
