Abstract

Academic dishonesty is on the increase and challenges the world of academia. This increase is reported from time to time in findings worldwide. The study reported in this paper provides some insight into the activities of academic dishonesty among Muslim students in Malaysia. The rationale for conducting this study among Muslim students is because these students, in the near future, will be at the forefront of shaping the ethics and integrity of Malaysian society. The survey method was utilised in the study and involved 453 Muslim students in 2014 and 365 students in 2015. The findings showed that 55% percent of the participating Muslim students admitted to being involved in academic dishonesty at least once in 2014 and 63% admitted the same in 2015.The dominant aspects of academic dishonesty are plagiarizing references in completing assignments and course work and using information from digital resourceswithout proper accreditation.
