Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the rural preschoolers’ acceptance and factors influencing their acceptance in using a flipped classroom approach in learning Mathematics. This study uses the technology acceptance model by Davis (1989) and the flipped classroom model by Bergmann and Sams (2012). This study is a qualitative method using observation and interview methods. The observation method was conducted by using a checklist during the teaching and learning process for Mathematics learning in the flipped classroom. The interview method was conducted on six preschool students and one preschool teacher. The results showed that rural preschoolers were positively the flipped classroom approach in learning Mathematic. Two factors were influencing the acceptance in using a flipped classroom approach such as information and communication technology factors and social environmental factors. Further studies are expected to utilize the various use of information and communication technology facilities for rural preschoolers so that they can experience the same educational opportunities as preschool students in the city.
