ELEMEN DALAM PROGRAM PENYEDIAAN GURU SEBAGAI PEMUDAH CARA PEMIKIRAN MORAL GURU PELATIH PENDIDIKAN MORAL

Abstract

This study aims to understand and explain elements that facilitate moral thinking of Moral Education student teachers. Moral thinking is one of the important aspects that Moral Education teachers should have to become effective teachers. Incapability of Moral Education teachers in moral reasoning cause ineffective process of teaching and learning. This study was conducted to answer the research question: What are the elements in the Bachelor of Education (Moral Education) course facilitate moral thinking of student teachers? Qualitative research design was chosen to answer the research questions. Participants were selected based on the screening tests called 'Moral Thinking Scale'. Semi-structured interview technique was used to collect the data from 7 participants consisting of the final year Moral Education student teachers. Data was analysed based on the categories and themes to answer respective research question. This study had found that there were two elements in Bachelor of Education (Moral Education) course that facilitate moral thinking of Moral Education student teachers such as courses experience and the practice of active learning pedagogy. Therefore, Moral Education teacher’s preparation programmes should consider the importance to incorporate these elements in current programmes to facilitate moral reasoning of Moral Education student teachers and eventually producing quality teachers.
