Abstract

The study aimed to highlight the linguistic and idiomatic meanings of Al-Habl and Reason terms, and to know their significance and interpretation according to their occurrence in the verses of the Qur’an. In order to know the difference between them explicitly or implicitly. This is what made some researchers not differentiate between Quranic synonyms because of their weakness in understanding the rules of Arabic grammar, and the semantics of words. Even the resources of words were canceled from consideration in interpretation. Consequently, the researcher relied on the analytical inductive approach by following the Quranic verses. In order to know the aspects of their significance, whether explicitly or implicitly. and gives a meaning to the extension of the thing, covenant and security, continuity, or communication. two terms correspond to the definition idiomatically. The interpreters' sayings of the two terms Al-Ḥabl and Reason did not differ from the linguistic meanings, but the aspects of significance for each word, whether it was mentioned singularly or plurally. Reason relates to meanings in the Qur’an that were not mentioned in Al-Ḥabl, such as kinship and affection, or the way or a means of governance. Al-Ḥabl is mentioned in the Qur’an for some meanings that are not called Reason, such as God’s religion, and the jugular vein.
