Abstract

Some textual differences between versions of The Dream of Red Mansions are obvious. Are these differences preserved or corrected? This paper tries to analyze the five characters in the new edition from the perspective of text and edition, and suggests that the proofreaders should pay more attention to the readability of the text when republishingm, and integrate each text to follow the advice of others.
