Main Article Content
Abstract
The literature on enterprise fnances focuses overwhelmingly on manufacturing industry and clustering industry in the developing countries. This study aims to examine the source of fnancing and its impact on exports and research and development (R&D) in the Uganda fsh industry. The study adopted a mix approach using qualitative questionnaire survey and quantitative approach to assess the source of fnancing and its impacts on exports and R&D. The fndings reveal that fsh enterprises’ access to formal fnancial credit is limited to supporting fsh production, exports and R&D. The developmental role of government, innovative lending technologies of financial institutions and leasing firms can be instrumental in addressing the SMEs’ persistent financing difficulties to boost overall socio-economic developments
