The Phenomenon of Synonymy in Juz’ ‘Amma: A Linguistic -Semantic Study

Abstract

يتناول هذا البحث دراسة ظاهرة الترادف في جزء عم من القرآن الكريم دراسةً لغوية دلالية. يهدف هذا البحث الكشف عن الألفاظ المتقاربة في المعنى، وتحليل الفروق الدلالية الدقيقة بينها في السياق القرآني. وينطلق البحث من إشكالية الترادف في اللغة العربية عامة، وفي القرآن الكريم خاصة، حيث اختلف العلماء في إثبات الترادف التام أو نفيه. وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على المنهج الكيفي التحليلي، من خلال أداة تحليل المحتوى، وذلك بتتبع الألفاظ التي يُظَنّ ترادفها في جزء عم، وتحليل دلالاتها بالرجوع إلى كتب التفسير والمعاجم اللغوية. وينتج هذه الدراسة إلى أن الترادف في القرآن الكريم ليس ترادفًا مطلقًا، وإنما هو تقارب دلالي تحكمه دقة السياق القرآني، مما يبرز الإعجاز اللغوي في اختيار الألفاظ القرآنية.

This study examines the phenomenon of synonymy in Juzʾ ʿAmma of the Holy Qur’an through a semantic and linguistic analysis. It aims to identify words that appear similar in meaning and to analyze the subtle semantic differences between them within the Qur’anic context. The study is grounded in the issue of synonymy in the Arabic language in general, and in the Qur’an in particular, where scholars have differed on the affirmation or denial of absolute synonymy. Adopting a qualitative analytical approach, this research employs content analysis as its primary tool by tracing words presumed to be synonymous in Juzʾ ʿAmma and examining their semantic nuances through classical Qur’anic exegeses and Arabic lexical sources. The findings indicate that synonymy in the Qur’an is not absolute but rather represents a semantic proximity governed by the precision of the Qur’anic context, highlighting the linguistic inimitability of Qur’anic word selection.
