This research focused on the influence of research self-efficacy toward research productivity and perceived moderating effect of supervisory support. The interaction between these two critical factors is essential to enhance research productivity among postgraduate students in Indonesian higher education. Quantitative methodology is employed in this research study. The purposive sampling technique was used which included postgraduate students who engaged in research activities as its criteria. The sample size calculations used Slovin formulation and as many as 514 respondents were obtained comprising of 330 Master's students and 184 PhD students in Indonesia,. SmartPLS-4 was utilised to conduct structural equation model partial least square for data analysis. The results indicated that self-efficacy positively impacts research productivity. Furthermore, perceived supervisory support enhanced the interaction between research self-efficacy and research productivity. This investigation enriches theoretical landscape by applying Bandura's social cognitive theory to postgraduate research. Practically, based on these findings, it suggests that academic institutions can design research training programs to increase students’ research self-efficacy levels, and develop strategies to facilitate supportive supervisory relationships which increases research productivity. Future research should employ longitudinal designs to clarify the causal relationships between research self-efficacy and research productivity, as well as replicate the research in various cultural and academic environments to improve its generalizability. Additionally, it should aim to incorporate objective productivity metrics and investigate other potential moderators and mediators to intensify the understanding of the factors and mechanisms driving research productivity.
2024-07-04T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2024 http://adum.um.edu.my/index.php/MOJEM/article/view/53266 THE INFLUENCE OF LEADERSHIP STYLE ON LECTURERS’ JOB SATISFACTION: A CASE STUDY AT KUNINGAN ISLAMIC COLLEGE, INDONESIA 2024-07-04T23:24:57+08:00 Mubarok Fatahillah a@a.a Abd Razak Zakaria abdrazak@um.edu.my Cahyo Setiadi Ramadhan a@a.a Najhah Barnamij a@a.a Husnul Hafidhoh a@a.a
In contemporary society, the nexus between leadership styles and job satisfaction remains a subject of profound significance across various organizational contexts. Results indicate a significant influence of leadership style on lecturer job satisfaction, with the Leadership Style variable exhibiting a t-value exceeding the critical threshold. Implications of the findings extend beyond academia, emphasizing the importance of effective leadership practices in enhancing employee well-being and organizational effectiveness. Future research should explore additional factors impacting job satisfaction among lecturers, aiming for a more comprehensive understanding of employee satisfaction within higher education. The implications of our findings extend beyond the academic realm, informing educational policymakers and institutional leaders about the importance of adopting effective leadership practices to promote lecturer job satisfaction and overall organizational effectiveness.
2024-07-04T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2024 http://adum.um.edu.my/index.php/MOJEM/article/view/53267 OPTIMISING E-LEARNING: EMBRACING WEBEX IN MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITIES FOR SMARTER CAMPUS LEARNING 2024-07-04T23:30:58+08:00 Tan Henna Shen Po a@a.a Tan Cheng Ling tanchengling@usm.my Yeo Sook Fern a@a.a
The recent pandemic has forced Malaysian universities to implement technological e-learning platforms to replace the physical classroom, encouraging a growing spur of online learning users. Webex by Cisco’s market share is decreasing as compared to Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. This implies a low acceptance rate of Webex due to limited personalization options, delays in responses, not user friendly and high pricing. This quantitative study explores the acceptance of Webex Classroom among campus students in public universities in Malaysia. Value-based Adoption Model (VAM) is adopted in predicting the model with perceived value and perceived fear as the mediator and the main factors of perceived technicality, perceived usefulness, enjoyment, and trust. Data is collected from 101 participants and analysed using partial least square-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Seven out of eight hypotheses are supported. This study's outcome suggests that, when designing a new online learning platform, enjoyment should be prioritized together with usefulness and trust, while technical issues must be resolved to avoid fear among students. The practical significance of this study lies in the ability to assist educational authorities in comprehending the roles of each factor for future planning.
2024-07-04T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2024 http://adum.um.edu.my/index.php/MOJEM/article/view/53268 EMPLOYABILITY, CAREER ADAPTABILITY, AND FUTUREORIENTED EMOTIONAL RESPONSES TO WORK TRANSITION OF COLLEGE GRADUATING STUDENTS OF A PHILIPPINE HEI: POST COVID-19 STUDY 2024-07-04T23:45:26+08:00 Edgar Allan G. Castro edgar.allan.castro@dlsl.edu.ph
This study explored the importance of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) by working closely with career counseling and guidance teams to develop programs that build students' confidence and resilience to mitigate anxiety and stress while preparing for their transition to the labor market in the post-COVID-19 economy. This study examined the effect of graduating student-level characteristics (GSLC), specifically employability skills and career adaptability behaviors, on the anticipatory emotions of college students transitioning from school to work. Data were collected through an online survey involving 754 students enrolled in internship courses in their final year of college. 44% reported feeling anxious about this transition, with 78% reporting anxiety at levels 5 to 8 on a 10-point scale. The GSLC model fit the data well, explaining 24.5% of the variance in anticipatory emotions, with four factors being significant predictors (P < 0.05). The findings revealed that students who feel less confident about their disciplinary expertise, career decidedness, and occupational self-efficacy are likely to report negative anticipatory emotions (anxiety), similar to students who are confident in their interpersonal skills. Student suggestions gathered from qualitative feedback corroborated the results, which offered ways to enhance school programs that prepared them for work. These results underscore the crucial role of HEIs in preparing students for employment, providing quality education, and offering sufficient mental health resources.
2024-07-04T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2024 http://adum.um.edu.my/index.php/MOJEM/article/view/53269 PRINCIPAL INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND TEACHER SELF-EFFICACY AS A MEDIATING VARIABLE BETWEEN TEACHER LEADERSHIP AND TEACHER PROFESSIONAL LEARNING PRACTICES IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KELANTAN 2024-07-04T23:51:13+08:00 Suhaibah Mokhtar a@a.a Ahmad Zabidi Abd Razak zabidi@um.edu.my
Empirical studies examining the impact of principal instructional leadership (PIL) as well as teacher self-efficacy (TSE) as a mediator to teacher leadership (TL) on teacher professional learning (TPL) practices are minimal. Theoretically, this study provides empirical evidence through the application of four models, namely the Leadership Development for Teachers (LDT), the PIL Model, the TSE Model, and the TPL Model, to enrich the understanding of TPL. Employing Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis, survey data were collected from 522 teachers in secondary schools in Kelantan. The research strategy that has been used is a cross-sectional quantitative survey. The data were analyzed utilising the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate the direct and indirect effects of TL on professional learning practices. The results indicate that both PIL as a construct and TSE influence TL and TPL practices. In other words, teachers and principals with power as well as support are likely to deliberate and actively notice learning opportunities. This study takes a holistic approach by analyzing all of the components related to good leadership in education. Such insights shed light on how school policymakers and administrators can create atmospheres that promote ongoing professional development for teachers. In the future, it might be beneficial for researchers to investigate similar dynamics in other types of educational institutions in order to broaden our knowledge of ways to encourage various kinds of TPL.
2024-07-04T00:00:00+08:00 Copyright (c) 2024
