Abstract

Abstract
Odonata Publishing Sdn. Bhd. published a young adult novel entitled Seven Days written by Khor Ewe Pin in 2006 which gained popularity from the readers and became the bestseller in the book market. Thus, it has changed the publishing ecology of local
young adult novels and the perception of many readers. Odonata Publishing Sdn. Bhd., the pioneer of this trend, has successfully encouraged reading culture among young readers and creating more opportunity in local publishing market. Many publishers follow
the footsteps of Odonata Publishing and the sales increased tremendously. This article explores the creation ethics of the best-selling local young adult novel on the market by text analysis. Through close reading, found that some of these reading materials did not
portray ethical for children’s literature, which from the point of educational aspects, moral values and aesthetic value. Some publishers and authors try their best to cater to children's reading habits in publishing and writing, and the orientation of commercial writing is
becoming increasingly prominent, whilst ignore the principle of a good and educational aspects such as ethics of creativity, value orientation and aesthetic value that a children's reading material should have.
